J Edgar

J Edgar

J Edgar is a wonderful movie that deserved the Academy Award nomination. The story was well crafted and it made me think about our government and how the FBI started. However the portion of the movie that broke my heart is the romance portion. As private as J Edgar was, I doubt that he wanted to have his love story shared. I doubt that he wanted people to know about his love affair or that he was gay. If he really wanted share that information then he would have openly prior to his death. However that is not how we see or learn about J Edgar's love story. It was hard to understand how a man that prided himself on honor and privacy would approve of the making of this movie. I wish we as a society could learn how to show respect toward peoples’ privacy.  Sometimes we need to mind our own business and stay out of other people's lives.

Enough of my soap box -a good story is a good story so you should rent the movie. It is well written so definitely put it in your Netflix queue or rent it at Redbox. ENJOY!

Source Code

Sometimes you have to blame the poor trailer for having the wrong perspective of an upcoming movie. Source Code was that movie for me. I didn’t get the purpose of the movie but I gave it a chance anyway. The premise of the story was still confusing for a good chunk of the movie. I couldn’t understand how something could continue to go back in time for only 8 minutes increments. I hate to give movie endings so let me just say – at the end I thought to myself – why did I just give 2 hours of my life to this movie? Is there a romance element to it – yep, but it is also unrealistic.  Luckily for me it is only a Redbox movie so the financial damage was not too bad. If the movie comes on TV – it is an okay movie to kill time  with but I would not put it in a must see category.
