Just Wright

Next movie on my marathon list is "Just Wright".  Another movie where the man goes after the girl. Are you catching onto my theme?  Mr. Wonderful will find me.

Anyway not to often do you find a curvy girl at the center of a love story so I really enjoy this storyline. Not to mention that I think Common is a delicious piece of eye candy. He is a lyrical genius and I would love to have dinner with him one night but back to the movie.

True love to me means having your number 1 cheerleader in your corner cheering you on. True love means you have someone in your life that hangs in there with you through the good, the bad and the ugly. Just Wright really looks at two types of women (authentic women and fake women) that are out there who are looking for love. Rather you are fan of Morgan (Paula Paton) or Leslie (Queen Latifah) you are going to hope Scott (Common) will pick the right girl.

Just Wright is not a super deep movie but  a good romantic drama. And for the curvy girls - there are few one liners that I believe all of us curvy girls have said a time or two. You could totally watch this movie with your man, but I would suggest getting together with your girls and discussing the differences between Morgan and Leslie.  And casting your vote on which girl should win the heart of Common.  ENJOY!

Something's Gotta GIve

I LOVE THIS CHICK FLICK!

Okay so I recently had a heartbreak of my own and I decided to go on a movie marathon to remind myself what I'm hoping for - a man that really loves me for who I am. I know turning to Hollywood is probably not the best way to get over heartache but it is less calories than Ben and Jerry's ice cream.

The first movie on my list was "Something's Gotta Give". This is one of the great romantic comedies because all of the characters seem authentic. Although you should never laugh at someone crying, but when Erica (Diane Keaton) was crying over her break up with Harry (Jack Nicholson) and there is this one scene when she is sleeping and she wakes up and just starts to cry. I couldn't help myself but I started laughing out loud. At that moment I could relate to the character Erica, I had woken up this morning and five seconds later I remembered my Harry and I broke up. Similar to Erica, I too fell hard and fast for my Harry. Secretly I hope that my Harry comes looking for me but even if he doesn't I will never regret the time we spent together.

So rather you want to laugh, cry, or just want to be reminded why you love chick flicks, watch Something's Gotta Give again. IT IS WORTH THE RENTAL!

Like Crazy

Like Crazy

A love a story is design to make a girl weak in the knees and dream of her Prince Charming. Like Crazy made me wonder why in the world did get married? Were they ever really in love or did it have more to do with them not being able to let go? Not to mention it is the girl that asked the guy to marry her – which is a recipe for disaster. If a man wants to marry you – he will ask you. He will pursue you and fight for your heart. However if you have to ask him then he is making a decision out of the fear of losing you rather than because he wants to marry you.  Normally I do not wish for people to get a divorce but I was really hoping they both would move on with their lives during the movie. This drama often dragged and made me yawn often. Call me jaded but this is not a romantic drama or worth the rental. If you want to watch a great love story then rent “The Vows” when it comes out this summer. Now that is love

Answer This

Answer This

GO BUCKS! I have to say that first since “Answer This” is set on the University of Michigan campus. I noticed in the football clips – there was no footage showing OSU beating Michigan like usual.

Anyway enough about our Big 10 rivalry – this movie total reminded me of when I lived in Cincinnati and would go to the pub each week to play trivia with a group of friends. We even had a love connection birth from our weekly hang out. We never did win but we had a blast playing.  I think my experience with trivia made this movie seem more interesting than it really was. The pseudo love story was okay – not really a chick flick but more of a movie about someone trying to figure out who he is.  The story was really predictable so don’t expect any earth shattering epiphanies. However you may find that you enjoy this romantic comedy even with all of its flaws.  If you can get it on instant replay on Netflix still – then it is worth the rental. However if you have to drive to Redbox then pick another movie to watch (LOL)

Fair Game

Fair Game

Arrogance is the fall of many men. It is the cousin to pride which is never flexible. Fair Game is more about a man’s pride then the corruption of our government. It is more about a man that wanted to stand up for his point of view of the truth rather than walking away from a fight. The conspiracy theory that our government will sacrifice lives in order to save their image is not a new concept. At the end of the movie I was PISSED off. I kept saying to myself – REALLY –that is how it is going to end? What is the purpose of this movie? Did I miss it along the way? This movie is just about pride and arrogance and a pure waste of your time. Most of the time I love watching Sean Penn act but this movie is not worth it. DON’T RENT IT!

Seven Days in Utopia

Seven Days in Utopia

I am not a golfer but I seem to love watching golfing movies. The Legend of Bagger Vance is one of my favorite ones so when I saw the trailer for “Seven Days in Utopia” I was quickly intrigued by the storyline.  I often joke that I could never live in a small town because I’m a city girl. However secretly I always enjoy watching movies where the towns people come together and welcome a newcomer to town. I like people who share their wisdom and have learned the art of slowing down.  In a small town it is like they know the secrets of living a full life and do not get caught up in the rat race.

In Seven Days of Utopia you will watch a man rediscover who he is and why he loves the game of golf.  This lighthearted movie is a life affirming movie to watch when you just want to unwind and laugh. Put this movie in your Netflix queue or go rent it from Redbox. You will enjoy it -I PROMISE
